Lives lost in an early morning crash - Lagos




Lagos State Emergency Agency said its Emergency Response Unit received a distressed call via the CRM regarding an accident at Ojota Bus stop at about 4:02am.

The agency said its officials quickly moved to the scene.

According to the General Manager, LASEMA, Adesina Tiamiyu

 “investigation carried out by the ERT at the scene revealed that an articulated truck with registration number AKD 663 KF conveyed 40ft container Laden with plywood fell on Volkswagen commercial bus (Danfo) with registration number FST 944 XR which the passengers were trapped.”

He noted prompt intention by the LASEMA Response Unit led to the rescue of three victims who were taken to the Trauma Centre Toll Gate.

Five dead bodies trapped in the bus were extricate by the LASEMA Team and were taken to Ikorodu General Hospital Mortuary.

Tiamiyu advised articulated truck drivers and owners to exercise caution and avoid over loading and also ensure their vehicles were always in good condition.


Other Agencies at the scene were Nigeria Police Force, led by the Commissioner of Police Fatai Owoseni, Commander RRS Tunji Disu, LASTMA, LASAMBUS, Lagos State fire service, FRSC and NSCDC.
