On Friday, February 17, 2023, tragedy struck the Ojoro area of Owode Ede in Ede North Local Government Area of Osun State, as three individuals drowned in a well located at a construction site, leaving residents in mourning.
The deceased were identified as Adebayo Oluwasina, a 46-year-old cleric, and two bricklayers named Lateef Adediran, aged 22, and Waliu Adediran, aged 31, who were siblings. They lost their lives while attempting to retrieve a fetcher that had fallen into the well.
According to reports, Pastor Shina, the owner of the
construction site, also drowned while trying to save the siblings. A community
resident stated that Waliu and Lateef were employed as bricklayers by Adebayo
