I’ve observed that people do
not really know what forgiveness means.
Forgiveness is
the concept of creating a mind-set that can erase a past containing hurt(s)
/pain(s) , which when recalled, would result to a shift from the original status
of cheer and/or bliss.
The human mind is deep and
logical, and when not handled rightfully can cause a change in belief, and a
resultant output delivery we call "character".
The human mind does not have
a definite explanation of how it works, like in the computer parlance, it's
like a Row - we only read about peoples'
opinion about how it works based on their own perception.
Forgiveness is something that
has to do with the mind, it’s a very sensitive part of every human and it is
encrypted. "Encryption" here entails, what the mind says or displays
cannot be heard or seen by any other person except the individual who’s mind is
the case.
Forgiveness is an explicit act of
love, which means love without forgiveness is nothing. It is indeed an integral component of LOVE.
So, "... Love thy neighbour
as thyself,...". This means, for
love to be complete, we should learn to
forgive IN ADVANCE.
Now let’s look at the little
equation below to help evaluate love and forgiveness together.
Equation.
L = love
F = forgiveness
PL = positive love.
NL = no love
L + F = PL
L - F = NL
From the above equation we
can see that it is not possible to forgive without love and love without
forgiveness is no love at all.
Forgiveness is not a word, rather
it is an act that defines love to its real definition.
Example.
We all say that “God is
love”.
Now the question is how?
Now I will give a clear
explanation of this simple but deep sentence.
God loves us, that’s true,
but how do we know it is true?
Whenever we sin and ask for
forgiveness, He forgives and erases the record of sin in our heart. This is
because our heart is what He uses to evaluate us before He accepts us back, and
if He finds sin in our hearts, He stays away from us. But when He forgives us,
He keeps us clean from all our guilt.
Note: God is the only Supreme Being who can access our mind.
This really explains that
forgiveness is an act, it is pure and it showcases ultimate love.
SPIRITUAL IMPACT OF
FORGIVENESS
Forgiveness on the other hand
is spiritual. The reason for saying this
is because, forgiveness is one of the gifts of righteousness, while love is the
one above the rest.
Your spirit being cannot be
free if you can’t forgive the wrongs people have done to you.
Forgiveness gives you freedom
of the mind, heart and soul.
FORGIVENESS AS A TOOL
OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
If you cannot forgive, you
cannot be forgiven.
Forgiving others is a sine-qua-non
to being forgiven; when you pray, you say "...forgive our trespasses as we
forgive those who trespass against us...". Now tell me how God can forgive
you, when you fail to forgive others.
Righteousness which means
holiness cannot be complete if forgiveness is not a part of ones life.
To attain the fullness of the
stature of Christ, forgiveness must be a strong part of your life style (Hebrews
1:1 - 10).
In a short conclusion –
forgiveness is a mind-set, forgiveness is a life style, forgiveness is love,
forgiveness is righteousness and finally, the freedom of the Spirit of man.
This is what forgiveness
means and if you’re lacking forgiveness in your life that means you have no
good mind-set, no better life style, no pure love and no freedom of the spirit.
It simply means you need to
be delivered. And you need the Holy Spirit into your life.
